Clean clear articulate sound with a uniform sound field.
How is outdoor sound different than indoor sound?
Sound energy dissipates very quickly outdoors. Outdoor sound is like cigar smoke. There are no walls and ceiling to keep the sound energy contained. To achieve a relatively uniform sound field we need many speakers playing at moderate levels rather than a few speakers playing very loudly.
Speaker wire runs tend to be longer and therefore require a bigger gauge wire to ensure the system performs at its best. 14 gauge is the minimum that should be used.
Many people start with sound as a way to enhance the ambiance outdoors. Achieving good sound quality outside has different challenges than indoors. Generally, you want to consider the topography of your outdoor spaces, like outdoor kitchens, BBQ areas, pools, gardens, and water features. Some of those add ambient noise, and you may occasionally have noise from nearby traffic. Another consideration may be not creating too much noise for neighboring properties.
The good news is that all these considerations can be accommodated. A plethora of speakers and sound system options are available for outdoors. The audio source could be an extension of your indoor system, or it can be entirely different. Speaker choices abound for outdoor applications, from satellites and buried subwoofers in gardens to waterproof rock speakers to blend with water features and landscaping around pools.
In an outdoor kitchen or covered patio, surface mount or ceiling speakers are but two options to consider for this type of indoor-outdoor area. If you are looking to add an outdoor TV, it's even possible to have surround sound outdoors with the right layout.
An outdoor TV can extend the enjoyment of your patios and outdoors well into the evening. Not just for covered areas, outdoor TVs can go in both shaded, partial shade and full sun. Models from SunBrite and Séura represent the top tier of outdoor displays, with bright screens for outdoor visibility and sturdy, long-lasting construction to stand up to just about any weather New Jersey can dish up. Imagine movie nights on the outdoor patio, or even floating in the pool on a summer evening watching a show on a poolside TV. You may also consider more than one TV to entertain friends and family! For more information on outdoor TVs please see our Knowledge Center on our website.
Outdoor lighting can set the atmosphere for entertainment. Soft lighting in patios and covered areas, as well as landscape lighting, can all highlight the beauty of your yard and gardens. Accentuate a pool or waterfall with lights in a variety of colors. Use up-lights to highlight a unique tree. Walkway path lights can create a resort-like atmosphere as well as add safety after dark. Control it all with a lighting control solution from Lutron, and you can also automate your lighting for both one-touch convenience and energy efficiency.
Even when the weather is good, you may need some environmental control to make the most of the outdoors. Outdoor shades can help. An overly sunny patio at particular times of day can be tamed by automated shades that drop down at the touch of a button for comfort. If you face a neighbor, the shades can add privacy. On a windy day, they block the wind to enjoy an outdoor meal. For the times of summer when the bugs are out, they help minimize their intrusion. And when your patios aren't in use, the shading can reduce the sun's UV rays and keep your outside furnishings from wearing quickly. Most of all, outdoor shading creates a much more usable indoor/outdoor space. We are Screen Innovation trained dealers. We love Screen Innovations (SI) outdoor shades. We have a demo kit to show you what SI have to offer. For more information on outdoor shades please see our Knowledge Center on our website.
